Richard B. Cheney has worked as a public official for many years and is also a successful businessman. Cheney is currently the Vice-President of the United States. Cheney known as a popular figure within Washington politics, has served under four presidents in the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush picked Cheney during the summer of 2000 as his vice-presidential running mate noting Cheney's judgment and insight. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff for the president, served as a Member of Congress as well as the secretary of defense. Cheney is a man with integrity whom is admired by Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney says he is an honest and discreet advisor for Bush within his administration. Cheney was the first to accept the Republican Vice Presidential nomination in 2007, said his hopes were high for working under a president who is able to work across party lines and work with political rivals by fostering goodwill and working towards a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941 the father of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. As a 13-year-old, Richard Bruce accompanied his parents from Nebraska to Casper (in Wyoming, the State of Wyoming) in Wyoming, where his father was director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's land conservation districts.
