Katherine Heigl is open about being raised in "a White bubble." The actress also discusses the impact that this realization has had on the parenting style of her adopted children who are multi-racial. She revealed in an interview in the past that in terms of skin color the issue isn't that important. After speaking with her sister who is adopted in South Korea she realized just how differently society treats them. "I asked my sister, Meg to tell me if she'd been treated in one manner when she was walking around with our parents and a different way when she was out by herself without them. Meg replied, "Oh yeah, always!" Heigl told parents: "That was when I was aware of how foolish I had made me feel." She confessed that she was frustrated and felt that she had to channel this anger to support her daughters. Sheigl's husband Josh Kelley and their son Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr., 4, have been married for 13 years. In 2009, the couple adopted Nancy Leigh (12), an adopted daughter of South Korea, and Adalaide (8 an African-American child) in 2012.
